Who we are
We combine experience with modern medicine, continuing the legacy of Andrzej Dyczek, MD.
New Therapies Centre Centrum Nowoczesnych Terapii Dobry Lekarz was established basing on Specialist Clinics Specjalistyczne Poradnie Lekarskie, established by Andrzej Dyczek, MD. Doctor Dyczek was also the co-founder of “Atopia” Specialist Clinics, where he began his activity within the field of clinical tests in 1993.
Doctor Dyczek was an allergist, specialist in internal medicine, immunologist, but in particular, a great doctor-humanist, for whom the patient and their wellbeing always represented utmost importance. Although usually in a hurry, he would always devote as much time as necessary to their patients. He used to say: “Put everything aside, stop for a while, listen to your patient, hold their hand and sit next to them, and you are halfway to your medical success”.
No one else would understand better that listening to the ill carefully, expressing empathy and kindness towards them often constitutes the key to effective therapy.
Doctor Dyczek was interested in rare diseases as well as non-conventional treatment methods, so he would often refer to unconventional therapies. For many years, he supervised patients taking part in clinical studies, which often constituted the source of hope and would improve the quality of life of those for whom there seemed to be no rescue left.
We would like to continue as well as develop Doctor Dyczek’s achievements.
Put everything aside, stop for a while, listen to your patient, hold their hand and sit next to them, and you are halfway to your medical success.

-
Treatment methods
Treatment methods applied by us are based on current recommendations of global scientific bodies as well as on good practices in medicine. We base our diagnostic activity on the most modern methods from the world of science.
Team
We are a team of specialists for whom patient safety and well-being are the highest priority at every stage of a clinical trial.
We are a team whose primary goal is the well-being of the patient. Our medical specialists serve as investigators, while pharmacists act as coordinators. Nurses and other team members also work in hospitals and outpatient clinics, where they identify a strong need for alternative treatment options made possible through clinical trials.
Our collaboration begins at the screening stage, when we analyse the study protocol and inclusion and exclusion criteria, review the site’s capabilities, and assess the expertise of the physicians working with us. Our aim is to ensure that the patient gains the maximum possible benefit from participation in the study, even if they are assigned to the placebo group.
- We evaluate both the potential benefits for the participant and any possible risks.
- Patients have access to on-site consultations with our physicians.
- Every member of our team has many years of experience in conducting clinical trials.
- We provide care both during the clinical trial and after its completion.
- We conduct Phase I, II, III, and IV studies, both blinded and unblinded.
Throughout the study, we maintain constant communication, hold consultations, and continuously evaluate and train to ensure the highest quality of research.

In 1979, after graduating from the II High School named after King Jan III Sobieski in Kraków, I began my medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Nicolaus Copernicus Medical Academy in Kraków. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in paediatrics and, from my third year onward, actively participated in the activities of the Student Scientific Society at the Department of Paediatric Diseases.
From the beginning of my professional career, I have been affiliated with the Department of Paediatrics, Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Institute of Paediatrics of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków. After obtaining my medical degree in 1985 and completing a one-month internship in the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Bordeaux II in France, I started working at the former Second Department of Paediatric Diseases of the Institute of Paediatrics of the Medical Academy in Kraków—initially as a postgraduate intern (1985–1986), then as a junior assistant (1986–1994), assistant (1994–1997), assistant professor/adjunct (1997–2010), senior lecturer (2010–2015), adjunct with habilitation (2015–2019), and since 2019 as a professor at the Jagiellonian University. During my work at the Department, I had the opportunity to develop both clinically and scientifically under the supervision of Professor Janina Stopyrowa.
In 1991, I obtained my first-degree specialization in paediatrics, followed by the second-degree specialization in 1996, and in 2003 I became the first paediatrician in the Małopolska region to obtain a specialist diploma in gastroenterology. In 2007, I obtained qualifications to perform endoscopic procedures, including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy. In 2015, I obtained a specialization in paediatric gastroenterology.
As part of my professional development, I have participated in over twenty training courses and workshops in Poland and abroad, including:
- 1995 - ESPGHAN Summer School, Wilsede, Germany
- 1997 - 3rd ESPGHAN Nutricia Research Forum for Young Investigators, Barcelona, Spain
- 1998 - Salzburg–Philadelphia Seminars in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Salzburg, Austria
- numerous training courses in pH-metry, manometry, electrogastrography, and gastrointestinal motility (Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Denver, USA)
- 2019 - Expert Training on the Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet, Glasgow, United Kingdom
- 2020 - ECCO–ESGAR Basic Imaging Workshop and Ultrasound Workshop, Vienna, Austria
Since the establishment of the Department of Paediatrics, Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Jagiellonian University Medical College, I have been actively involved in the development of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods for paediatric patients with gastrointestinal diseases. My main areas of expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, nutritional therapy, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and disorders of the gut–brain axis. In my daily clinical practice, I introduced, among others, hydrogen breath testing, electrogastrography, pH-impedance monitoring, and IBD diagnostic algorithms based on ileocolonoscopy, advanced imaging techniques, and faecal calprotectin testing.
In 2005, I established the first paediatric Biological Therapy Unit in Poland for children with inflammatory bowel diseases, which remains a leading centre in the country to this day. I developed a model for monitoring biologically treated patients, including assessment of treatment efficacy and safety using drug level monitoring (infliximab, adalimumab), thiopurine metabolite levels (6-TG, 6-MMP), specific antibodies, and advanced imaging diagnostics (intestinal ultrasound, MR enterography, MR fistulography).
I also introduced enteral nutrition into clinical practice for patients with acute pancreatitis, eating disorders, malnutrition, and feeding difficulties. Between 2011 and 2014, I led the international multicentre study Grow1 (NCT00711945), the results of which contributed to the implementation of exclusive enteral nutrition as the first-line induction therapy for paediatric Crohn’s disease in our Department. I developed the treatment protocol, educational materials, and conduct training for physicians and nurses.
For over 20 years, I have been performing upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures and have been on-call for emergency endoscopy services, including urgent interventions such as haemostasis, foreign body removal, and management of caustic ingestions. I am also the author of a chapter on gastrointestinal endoscopy in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease in a monograph dedicated to paediatric endoscopy.
I have participated in the work of the hospital therapeutic team and, since 2015, I have been a member of the Council of the Institute of Paediatrics in Kraków.
